JN Designs was founded in 2009 by Joseph Munga, the son of Mr. Stephen Munga a Kenyan sculptor and craftsman. He started making banana fibre products in the 1960’s and has been sharing and developing these skills and crafts with his family and local people.

Hi son Joseph attended primary school and completed high school in 2003. He studied at college for a diploma in Information Management (I.M.I.S) with a view to developing an online business.

Joseph Munga started JN in 2009 with the aim of exporting banana fibre gifts and as a way of making income for himself and the employees. Currently the business employs 2 full time staff and 3 casual employees. Other local help is provided by local people in the event of large orders and at busy times of the year.

Training other people to help themselves is a priority of the business. The business is located on the edge of Nairobi.

Quality gift items are produced from Eco friendly and quickly renewable materials. The products use natural banana fibre material which are pleasing to the eye with variations of natural brown and golden colours.

Products produced by JN Designs include attractive gift boxes, desk blotters, file covers and table mats, tissue covers, Paper bins among many other products. Also produced by the business is a range of Christmas decorations.
