Shanga Shangaa is a young company based in Arusha, Tanzania, where a selection of beautiful beaded necklaces are produced. Combined with bright coloured silk, kanga, voile and other materials, the necklaces are made of a variety of recycled glass beads, painted stones, silver and other beads making a unique necklace for you to enjoy.
Shanga means "bead" in Swahili and Shangaa translates into "amazing"; an appropriate combination of words to reflect the work undertaken by this small workshop comprising 14 disabled, deaf and mute employees. All have worked hard to make a living and clearly enjoy the progressive and friendly working environment that has been set up at Shanga Shangaa.
The shanga collection has recently arrived in the UK and is being shown at shows across the North of England. For information on these shows please contact us by e-mail or telephone.
